If we stopped and thought about how YouTube conducts business, we would quickly realize that we need an alternative. (grabbing IP address, computer type, browser type, internet history, etc) YouTube’s parent company Google (Alphabet) not only collects a ton of data and telemetry on us, but they engage in highly censorious behavior on their platforms. Thankfully we now have some reasonable alternatives to choose in order to steer away from YouTube.

While YouTube is still by far the largest video sharing platform out there, which means more eyeballs and clicks for monetization, they choose to censor people on both broad ideological as well as specific granular categories of topics, leaving much to be desired. They inorganically boost certain content, as well as suppress or outright remove other content. Instead of this manipulative behavior and practices, try out and support other platforms, most notably Rumble.

Rumble.com

Rumble is by far the largest YouTube alternative video platform, and is growing fast. Many folks are rightfully jumping ship towards Rumble, who remain loyal to simply hosting content creator’s videos, and remaining free from censorship and manipulation. Rumble not only is a video hosting platform, but they also provide physical server space for a growing number of other applications, as well as physical internet infrastructure. While many still post to YouTube, quite a few are also posting their content to Rumble. Very intuitive and easy to use interface, choose light or dark mode. You do not need an account to view videos, simply visit and begin searching for content.

As we move forward in the direction we are headed currently, many will realize the hard way that YouTube, AWS and other big tech platforms put your content at risk of being removed and banned at any time. Use Rumble to have peace of mind knowing your content will not be removed, and remain in a free speech environment, no more strikes or bans for ‘wrongthink’ like on YouTube.

If you’ve not seen a Rumble video before, try out a quick example with my interview with Sean Patrick Tario recently on all things FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) video on Rumble and Odysee:

Odysee.com

Odysee platform is a solid, blockchain based platform for video hosting, as well as other files such as PDF’s, Images, Audio files, etc. It has a nice user interface and easy to use search functions. Odysee doesn’t abuse our data or censor content creators, but rather functions as a file sharing platform should, free from artificial manipulation. As with Rumble (or YouTube for that matter), an account or login is not needed to view content.

BitChute.com

BitChute is another good alternative to YouTube to avoid censorship and manipulated content. No account or login is required to view content.

More options coming soon, including how to spoof YouTube using 3rd party, privacy respecting apps. Try out FreeTube, NewPipe and other similar apps to spoof YouTube accounts in order to view content without giving up your personal device information.
